In most cases it's a bit risky and unnecessary to chase outside of the highlighted levels. Today, sellers could ride runners with the confirmation of weakness with VIX, but even then it's risky to initiating new positions.
I track VIX on Tradingview. TradingView has no real-time data for CBOE:VIX, but you can use the ticker TVC:VIX instead. It's free and updates in real-time.
